Following yet another plane crash in the United States at the weekend, President Donald Trump has spoken out as he was quizzed on the incident.
Five people were rushed to hospital after a single-engine plane crashed in the car park of a retirement community on Sunday (9 March) in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
No details have been released regarding their condition.
Last month, a Delta Air Lines flight from Minneapolis to Toronto flipped as it landed and burst into flames, although miraculously nobody was killed. Plane passenger Peter Carlson explained what it was like to be on board the flight and then make his way out of the scene of the crash.
Meanwhile, sadly, there were no survivors when an American Airlines flight and a US Army helicopter collided in mid-air over Washington DC at the end of January.
When quizzed about the most recent incident and the role of Chris Rocheleau as head of the Federal Aviation Administration, by Fox News President Trump provided an interesting reply.
He said: “That has nothing to do with the department. That was a small plane, it would have happened if you had a big department or a small department as you understand. They have spates like this.

“They have times when things happen a little bit more often than normal and then it goes back and then you go many years without having a problem.”
Rocheleau was appointed by Trump as the new head of the FAA back in January, taking over from Mike Whittaker who resigned a day before Trump arrived in office.
The president then went on to praise the role of the pilot who narrowly avoided a collision with a private plane on the runway at Chicago Midway Airport late last month, taking off again immediately after landing to avoid the jet which suddenly appeared in its path.

He added: “I think the Southwest pilot did a fantastic job last week when he lifted that plane off the air because if he’d put the brakes on that wouldn’t have been good. I think the license for the pilot that got in his way should maybe be revoked.
“The way he immediately stepped on the gas and lifted it up as opposed to thinking for about three seconds, it would have been too late.
“The pilot or pilots did a great job.”

Former US president Donald Trump was the target of what appeared to be an assassination attempt yesterday (13 July) while he was holding a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Trump was on stage lecturing a crowd of people when a number of loud noises were heard.
Secret Service agents got over to Trump and got him down to the ground while he clutched his ear and there appeared to be blood.
As his security detail rushed him away, he raised his fist to the rally.
Writing on his Truth Social website, Trump later said: “I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin.
“Much bleeding took place.”
The FBI have identified the alleged shooter as 20-year-old Pennsylvania resident Thomas Matthew Crooks, and say that their investigation is ongoing.

According to the New York Post, Crooks was registered as a member of the Republican party, as per state records.
Footage of the rally shows the moment that Secret Service agents opened fire on the gunman, mere moments after the first sounds of gunshots could be heard.
They said the shooter had taken up ‘an elevated position outside of the rally venue’.
According to authorities, one person attending the rally was killed and two other spectators were injured.
They also said that the gunman was ‘neutralised’ by agents and an AR-style rifle was recovered from the scene, as per 9 News.
It’s the most serious assassination attempt made on a current or former US president since someone shot at Ronald Reagan in 1981.

US president Joe Biden said that ‘everyone must condemn’ the violence at the Butler rally.
He said: “We cannot allow this to be happening. The idea that there’s violence in America like this is just unheard of.”
Some of Trump’s fellow former presidents have also condemned the violence as Barack Obama said: “There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy.
“We should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics.”
Meanwhile, George W. Bush called the shooting a ‘cowardly attack’.
Kevin Rojek, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office, said it was ‘surprising’ that the gunman was able to open fire before Secret Service agents managed to shoot him.
At a press conference, Rojek was asked whether law enforcement didn’t know the gunman was on the roof he used as a vantage point until he started shooting, with the FBI agent saying ‘that is our assessment at this time’.

Former US president Donald Trump was rushed off the stage at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania after loud noises were heard as the former President was shot at – the FBI is investigating it as an assassination attempt.
Pennsylvania will be a crucial swing state for the 2024 election and Trump was delivering a speech on stage, he had been showing a chart on the number of people crossing the border into the US when the noises occurred.
Trump reached towards his neck and footage of the incident appeared to show blood on his head.
Secret service agents rushed over to Trump and got him off the stage as the crowd began to panic.
According to AP, the bangs continued while Trump was on stage and as his protective detail ushered him away he raised a fist to the gathered crowd.

They report that Trump’s motorcade has since left the scene of the rally and police started evacuating the crowds.
US President Joe Biden was asked whether he had been briefed about the suspected shooting and said ‘no’.
Fox News correspondent Chad Pergram reported that according to Republican politician Dan Meuser there were between eight and 10 shots and it ‘appears multiple people in the crowd may have been hit and were down’.
Pergram also wrote on social media that Meuser added that the noises ‘sounded like a .22 or a small caliber weapon’.
He reported that the Secret Service had said in a statement: “An incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania.
“The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe.
“This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available.”

Trump’s campaign released a statement saying he was ‘fine’ and being looked over at a local medical facility. (Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images)
A statement from Trump’s campaign read: “President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act.
“He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow.”
Pergram then reported that the White House had said they had now briefed the president about what had happened at the rally in Pennsylvania.
Trump was the US president between 2017 and 2021, spending one term in the White House before being defeated by Joe Biden four years ago.
With another election looming it appears as though the two candidates are due to go head to head at the ballot box once again.
However, the US election is still some months away and there are a number of developments which could occur before then.

Internationally renowned Kick streamer Adin Ross has revealed he won a small fortune after betting $1 million (£777,400) on Donald Trump ahead of the 2024 US presidential election.
78-year-old Trump stormed to victory in the election, with the result known within hours of polls closing on Tuesday (5 November).
This was despite pollsters saying the result was on a knife-edge with both Trump and his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, sitting even in the polls.
But Harris’ loss was realised within hours of polls closing, with Trump storming back into the White House as he looks to take over Washington DC with his Make America Great Again movement.
One of Trump’s supporters, streamer Adin Ross, took to social media before the result was confirmed to announce he had placed a $1m bet on Trump winning back power.
And, given the result, drinks are very much on the 24-year-old internet personality.
Ross has risen to global fame in the last decade through his online streams on Twitch, before he was permanently banned from the platform in 2023. He now fronts up Kick, with him one of the platforms most viewed stars.

Streamer Adin Ross gifted Trump a personalised Tesla Cybertruck (Instagram/@adinross)
In August, he visited Trump at his Floridian resort Mar-a-Lago where he went live on Kick with the former The Apprentice frontman.
During the visit, Trump was gifted a Tesla Cybertruck wrapped in a now iconic photograph of the 45th POTUS seconds after the attempted assassination attempt on him in July. Ross also handed Trump a Rolex watch, to top it all off.
Reacting to the Cybertruck, Trump referenced Tesla CEO Elon Musk, saying: “Wow. That’s an Elon. That is beautiful. I think it’s incredible.”
On the bet from the 2024 election result, Ross took to X (formerly Twitter) where he revealed he had made $660,000 profit on the $1 million bet, which is roughly £513,000.

Ross revealed he placed the bet on 10 October, when Trump was odds on at 4/6 to secure the presidency. He also revealed he was giving away $100,000 (£77,700) from the fund, split between 10 people, to celebrate Trump’s win.
Ross posted on X: “Trump 2024. I put a million on the boss. I know he’s gonna secure it for America.
“The only presidential candidate that’s fit right for this country. I’ll be giving away $10,000 to 10 people who like this tweet and reply with a form of payment.”
Trump won the presidency after clearing the 270 electoral votes mark when securing the state of Wisconsin, clinching the keys to the Oval Office.
He said he had won ‘an unprecedented and powerful mandate’, adding: “Every single day I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve, and that you deserve.
“This is a magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to make America great again.”

Elon Musk isn’t happy with the amount of media scrutiny he is facing right now.
The 51-year-old took to Twitter following claims he was involved in a high-profile affair (which he denies) and expressed how he’s feeling the heat at the moment.
“The amount of attention on me has gone supernova, which super sucks. Unfortunately, even trivial articles about me generate a lot of clicks,” he wrote.
“Will try my best to be heads down focused on doing useful things for civilization.”
It doesn’t help that the man has no filter and seemingly tweets whatever thought that crosses his mind.
The tweet comes off the back of the SpaceX and Tesla being at the centre of a news article that claimed he had an affair with a Google co-founder’s wife.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Musk allegedly engaged in a brief affair with Sergey Brin’s wife, Nicole Shanahan.
The news outlet claimed this interaction cause the Google co-founder to file for divorce earlier this year and abruptly end his long-time friendship with Musk.
The pair have been friends for years and have both steadily increased their dramatically enviable wealth.
Brin even loaned Tesla $500,000 (AUD $718,230 or £414,330) in 2008 during the global financial crisis.

However, Brin reportedly ordered his financial investors to sell his personal investments in Musk’s company shortly after he filed for divorce from Shanahan, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ in January.
Despite reports, Musk strongly refuted the affair claims, writing: “This is total bs. Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night!
“I’ve only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around. Nothing romantic.”
Musk also told a similar statement to the New York Post: “Nicole and Sergey’s divorce has absolutely nothing to do with me.
“I am sure both Nicole and Sergey would confirm that.
“I spoke with both Sergey and Nicole about this and they say the story isn’t coming from them, so [it] must be a case of broken telephone, two or three layers removed.”
He added: “And, not to dodge the question, I have only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around.
“We were not romantically involved in any way.”
It seems that Tesla CEO has more drama in his personal life than an entire season of Succession.
